The Brighton Brunswick Cricket Club,
when formed in 1870, was for good cricketers, wishing to play mid-week who had
strong associations with the then newly formed County Club – in fact the County
initially played on the Brunswick ground in Fourth Avenue, Hove in the early
years before moving to the current County Ground in Eaton Road and the
Brunswick were a “nursery” for the County who had no second eleven.
Much has changed since those days. Not least being our status. Although we
still have strong associations with the County and indeed enjoy at least one
game there, we are essentially a wandering side, playing our fixtures against
many Premier League clubs as well as some delightful village sides.
We provide mid-week cricket of a good standard for club players with talent and
good humour. In our recent past we have had players from the Premier League,
from overseas, village cricketers and even players who have gone on to
represent their country. All have enjoyed the humour, banter and camaraderie
that epitomise The Brighton Brunswick.
Apart from our regular fixtures, we also have a hugely successful Devon Tour
about the first week of July which attracts cricketers, golfers and spectators
of varying ages and talents. The Tour has been based in Torquay since 1932.
Additionally we have an Annual Dinner in April which is invariably a full
new, improved and wider Club ties are available
